Active Dundee was delighted to host the annual Eurocamp Basketball Camp across two of the city's premier sporting venues – Dundee International Sports Centre and the Regional Performance Centre – from 19–23 July.
This year marked a significant milestone as the camp celebrated its 10th year in Dundee, highlighting a decade of growth, development and international collaboration. What began in 2016 with just 48 players and four coaches has grown into a thriving event welcoming 144 players and 12 coaches, requiring delivery across multiple venues to accommodate increasing demand.
Over the past decade, Eurocamp has welcomed more than 1,000 players to Dundee, many of whom return year after year. The camp's unique coaching environment, supportive atmosphere and high-quality player experience continue to make it a highlight of the basketball calendar for aspiring young athletes.
This year's camp attracted participants from across the globe, including players from the USA, France, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Hungary and Thailand, alongside athletes from all four Home Nations. The international mix creates a unique opportunity for players to learn, compete and build friendships with others who share a passion for the sport.
A key factor in Eurocamp's continued success is its ability to attract some of the most respected coaches in the game. Previous camps have featured former professional players including Gareth Murray, Jason Swaine and Mike Bernard. Returning for his tenth consecutive camp in Dundee was Bill Baddeley from Iowa, USA, who has been a valued part of every Eurocamp held in the city. He was joined this year by Nick O'Leary, one of the UK's most highly regarded and qualified basketball coaches, whose knowledge and expertise provided invaluable support to players throughout the week.
The 2026 camp was another outstanding success, receiving positive feedback from players, coaches and families alike. Beyond the sporting programme, Eurocamp continues to make a valuable contribution to Dundee's visitor economy, with participants and their families enjoying many of the city's recreational, cultural and educational attractions during their stay.
