This summer, Active Dundee was proud to support local sports clubs and partner organisations in delivering a wide range of holiday programmes for children and young people across Dundee. Through access to our facilities and ongoing partnership working, hundreds of young participants were able to stay active, develop new skills, and enjoy sport throughout the school holidays.

Dundee City Aquatics Makes a Splash

Dundee City Aquatics hosted a week-long performance swimming camp at Grove Swim & Sports Centre, making full use of the pool, sports facilities, and classroom spaces. More than 30 swimmers from the club's Bronze and Silver Feeder Squads took part in an exciting programme of daily swim training, fitness activities, and educational workshops.

The camp provided young athletes with valuable development opportunities both in and out of the water and was a tremendous success. We look forward to following the progress of these talented swimmers and perhaps seeing some future Scottish stars emerge from the programme.

Athletics Development with Dundee Hawkhill Harriers

Dundee Hawkhill Harriers also enjoyed a busy summer, delivering two week-long athletics camps aimed at both new participants and identified performance athletes.

Over 50 young athletes attended across the two weeks, taking part in a variety of track and field activities. A particular highlight was the club's first-ever Performance Athlete Camp, held at the Regional Performance Centre. The programme combined track-based training with strength and conditioning sessions, wellbeing workshops, nutrition guidance, and sports psychology activities, providing a well-rounded development experience for aspiring athletes.

A Summer of Football Success

Dundee United Community Trust delivered three highly successful week-long football camps on the 3G pitch at the Regional Performance Centre. Benefiting from excellent summer weather, the camps attracted an impressive 299 young footballers aged 5 to 12 over the three weeks.

Participants enjoyed developing their skills, building confidence, and making new friends while engaging in fun and structured football activities. The strong attendance reflected both the popularity of football and the enthusiasm of young people across Dundee to stay active during the holidays.

Looking Ahead

While Active Dundee takes great pride in delivering our own holiday programmes, we place equal value on supporting local clubs and organisations to provide high-quality opportunities for young people across the city.

These successful summer programmes demonstrate the strength of partnership working and the positive impact sport can have on young people's physical, social, and personal development. We are already looking forward to supporting another exciting programme of activities during the October school holidays, ensuring that children and young people across Dundee have plenty of opportunities to stay active, develop their skills, and most importantly, have fun.
