Event Coverage
Student Volunteer of the Year

This award will be presented to a student (or pair of students volunteering together) who have shown dedication and commitment to volunteering within a school and/or the community in the past 12 months. This award recognises a student/pair of students who have gone above and beyond as a volunteer. The nomination should demonstrate the impact this student/s volunteering has had on a school/club/individuals.
- The nominee must be volunteering within a Dundee based sports organisation, school or programme.
- The student/s are not required to be a resident of Dundee but are required to be making a significant contribution to sport in Dundee.
- The nominee must not receive any monetary awards for their time given to the activities detailed within the nomination, other than expenses.
- Only commitment contributed between April 2024 and March 2025 will be taken into consideration.
- Nominations will be considered on the quality of the nominee not the quantity of nominations received.
- Nominations will be judged on entry form alone.
- Previous award winners will be considered based on the current nomination only.
The nomination is to be considered on merit in relation to the following:
- Time commitment to sport each week and throughout the year.
- Responsibility gained and roles undertaken within the school/club (all roles are to be considered).
- Developments made possible through the efforts of the volunteer.
- Special circumstances/barriers that the volunteer has overcome.
- Value of the volunteer to the school/club and impact on participants involved.
- Nominee’s personal development and progress because of volunteering.
- Training completed and evidence of use.
Young Volunteer of the Year

This award will be presented to an individual aged 12 or above and under the age of 21 who has shown outstanding commitment as a volunteer in school and/or community sport throughout the past 12 months. The nomination should demonstrate the impact this young person has had on a school/club/individuals.
- Nominee must be aged 12 or above and under the age of 21.
- The nominee must be volunteering within a Dundee based sports club, school or programme.
- The nominee is not required to be a resident of Dundee but is required to be making a significant contribution to sport in Dundee.
- The nominee must not receive any monetary awards for their time given to the activities detailed within the nomination, other than expenses.
- Only commitment contributed between April 2024 and March 2025 will be taken into consideration.

School Volunteer of the Year

This award will be presented to an individual who has shown outstanding commitment as a school sport volunteer, creating sport and physical activity opportunities for pupils, throughout the past 12 months in a school in Dundee. The nomination should demonstrate the impact this individual has had on the school and/or pupils.
- Nominee must be a member of staff/parent volunteer or volunteer at a Dundee primary or secondary school.
- The nominee must not receive any monetary awards for their time given to the activities detailed within the nomination, this award is based on voluntary contributions to school sport and physical activity.
- Only commitment contributed between April 2024 and March 2025 will be taken into consideration.
- Nominations will be considered on the quality of the nominee not the quantity of nominations received.
- Nominations will be judged on entry form alone.
- Previous award winners will be considered based on the current nomination only.
The nomination is to be considered on merit in relation to the following:
- Time commitment to volunteering in school sport each week and throughout the year.
- Roles undertaken within the school to increase sport & physical activity opportunities (all roles are to be considered).
- Developments made possible through the efforts of the volunteer.
- Value of the volunteer to the school and impact on participants involved.
- Nominee’s personal development and progress because of volunteering.
- Training completed and evidence of use.
Club Volunteer of the Year

This award will be presented to an individual who has shown outstanding commitment as a volunteer at a community club and/or community sports hub throughout the past 12 months. The nomination should demonstrate the impact this individual has had on the organisation and/or participants.
- The nominee must be volunteering within a Dundee based sports club or community sports hub.
- The nominee is not required to be a resident of Dundee but is required to be making a significant contribution to sport in Dundee.
- The nominee must not receive any monetary awards for their time given to the activities detailed within the nomination, other than expenses.
- Only commitment contributed between April 2024 and March 2025 will be taken into consideration.
- Nominations will be considered on the quality of the nominee not the quantity of nominations received.

Volunteer Coach of the Year

This award will be presented to an individual who has shown outstanding commitment as a coach at a community or school club and throughout the past 12 months. The nomination should demonstrate the impact this individual has had on the club and/or participants.
- The nominee must be coaching within a Dundee based sports club or school.
- The nominee is not required to be a resident of Dundee but is required to be making a significant contribution to sport in Dundee.
- The nominee must not receive any monetary awards for their time given to the activities detailed within the nomination, other than expenses.
- Only commitment contributed between April 2024 and March 2025 will be taken into consideration.
- Nominations will be considered on the quality of the nominee not the quantity of nominations received.
- Nominations will be judged on entry form alone.

The nomination is to be considered on merit in relation to the following:

Jenny Wood Allen Memorial Trophy

This award will be presented to an individual with a physical, learning, or sensory disability in recognition of their commitment and achievements in sport over the past 12 months.
Jenny Wood Allen was an inspiration to all who heard of her amazing marathon running achievements. She championed sports for people with a disability and in 1994 donated “The Jenny Wood Allen” trophy. Following Jenny’s death at the age of 99, Dundee City Disability Sport renamed the award the Jenny Wood Allen Memorial Trophy which continues to honour the commitment and achievements of athletes with a physical, learning or sensory disability.
- The nominee must be someone who has either a physical, learning, or sensory disability or someone who has overcome great barriers to participate or excel within sport.
- The nominee must be a resident of Dundee and part of a Dundee based sports club or attend a school in Dundee.
- Only achievements between April 2024 and March 2025 will be taken into consideration.
- Nominations will be considered on the quality of the nominee not the quantity of nominations received.
- Nominations will be judged on entry form alone.
- Previous award winners will be considered based on the current nomination only.
The nomination is to be considered on merit in relation to the following:
- Barriers/personal factors that have been overcome by the individual.
- Attitude towards fellow athletes, coaches, and personal improvement.
- Improvements in performance through the year.
- Any other significant areas highlighted by the nomination are to be considered if they highlight a contribution to sport.
Lifetime Commitment Award

The Lifetime Commitment Award will be presented to a dedicated individual who has given a lifetime’s commitment to sport either in a school or community setting. This could include time as an athlete, coach, volunteer or official.
- The person nominated must be a resident of Dundee and / or contributed significantly to a club / sport / school sport in Dundee.
- The nominee must be of a non-professional status.
- The sport must be officially recognised by sportscotland.
- Nominations will be considered on the quality of the nominee not the quantity of nominations received.
- Nominations will be judged on entry form alone.
- Previous winners of this award cannot be considered.
The nomination is to be considered on merit in relation to the following:
- Number of years of service to sport.
- Impact on sport in Dundee.
- Personal awards/achievements of the nominee.
- Barriers overcome throughout service.
- Personal development achieved throughout service.
- Specific successes achieved by individuals / clubs / schools the nominee has been involved with.
- Any other significant areas highlighted by the nomination are to be considered if they highlight a contribution to sport.
Primary School of the Year

This award recognises a primary school that has excelled in sports over the past year while using sport to positively impact lives. The winning school will have expanded extracurricular sports, promoted participation, supported volunteers, and created pathways to community sports. It will also have understood and responded to pupils' needs, using sport to enhance their well-being and overall school experience.
- Nominee must be a Dundee Primary School.
- Only nomination contributions between April 2024 and March 2025 will be taken into consideration.
- Nominations will be considered on the quality of the nominee not the quantity of nominations received.
- Previous award winners will be considered based on the current nomination only.
The nomination is to be considered on merit in relation to the following:
- Evidence of whole school commitment to developing school sport opportunities for all.
- Evidence of strong links with local clubs and establishing clear pathways for children to transition into community sports opportunities.
- Engagement with school sport events and or competitions.
- Evidence of people development e.g., volunteer recruitment and development in delivering extra-curricular sporting opportunities, development of young leaders in sport.
- Retention and recognition of volunteers for their commitment to school sport.
- Evidence of whole school approach to Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport (PEPAS)
- Engagement with sportscotlands School Sport Award self-assessment tool and working towards improvements.
- Evidence of a changing lives through sport approach, using sport as a tool to address wider school outcomes and social outcomes through sport.
Secondary School of the Year

This award recognises a secondary school that has excelled in sports over the past year while using sport to positively impact lives. The winning school will have expanded extracurricular sports, promoted participation, supported volunteers, and created pathways to community sports. It will also have understood and responded to pupils' needs, using sport to enhance their well-being and overall school experience.
- Nominee must be a Dundee secondary school.
- Only nomination contribution between April 2024 and March 2025 will be taken into consideration.
- Nominations will be considered on the quality of the nominee not the quantity of nominations received.
- Previous award winners will be considered based on the current nomination only.
The nomination is to be considered on merit in relation to the following:
- Evidence of whole school commitment to developing school sport opportunities for all.
- Evidence of strong links with local clubs and establishing clear pathways for children to transition into community sports opportunities.
- Engagement with school sport events and or competitions.
- Evidence of people development e.g., volunteer recruitment and development in delivering extra-curricular sporting opportunities, development of young leaders in sport.

Club of the Year

This nomination should reflect what the club has achieved collectively or through individual achievements of their members and should demonstrate how the club has developed over the last 12 months.
- The nominee must be a fully constituted, Dundee based, sports organisation. (Evidence of a constitution may be requested as part of the panel process).
- The club must show continuous development throughout the past 12 months.
- The nomination should show any club development achievements e.g., changing lives through sport initiatives, community partnerships, school to club links.
- Only achievements between April 2024 and March 2025 will be taken into consideration.
- Nominations will be judged on entry form alone.
- Previous award winners will be considered, based on the current nomination only.
The nomination is to be considered on merit in relation to the following:
- Achievements over the last 12 months for the whole club.
- Evidence of a changing lives through sport approach, using sport to meet community need and tackle wider social outcomes through sport e.g. anti-social behaviour, unemployment, etc.
- Participation & development opportunities for all.
- Improvements in performance throughout the year.
- Development of volunteers.
- School to club links.
- Representation in regional / national / international competitions.
Young Sports Person of the Year

This award will be presented to a talented young person under 18 years of age who has excelled in their sport over the past 12 months within their sport in a school and/or community setting.
- The nominee must be Under 18 years of age at the time of achievement.
- The nominee must be a resident of Dundee and part of a Dundee based sports club, school, or programme.
- Only achievements gained between April 2024 and March 2025 will be taken into consideration.
- Nominations will be considered on the quality of the nominee not the quantity of nominations received.
- Nominations will be judged on the entry form alone.
- Previous award winners will be considered based on the current nomination only.
The nomination is to be considered on merit in relation to the following:
- Sporting achievements gained by the individual over the last 12 months.
- The level of competition in which the athlete competed in gaining their achievements.
- Improvements in performance throughout the year.
- Personal commitment and sacrifices the athlete has made to progress.
- Special circumstances/barriers that have been overcome by the athlete.
- Any other significant areas highlighted by the nomination are to considered if they highlight a contribution to sport.
Sports Person of the Year

Awarded to an individual who has achieved outstanding results in the past 12 months within their sport in a school and/or community setting.
- The nominee must be a resident of Dundee and part of a Dundee based sports club, school or programme.
- Only achievements between April 2024 and March 2025 will be taken into consideration.
- Nominations will be considered on the quality of the nominee not the quantity of nominations received.
- Nominations will be judged on the entry form alone. Previous award winners will be considered based on the current nomination only.
The nomination is to be considered on merit in relation to the following:
- Sporting achievements gained by the individual over the last 12 months.
- The level of competition in which the athlete competed in gaining their achievements.
- Personal commitment and sacrifices the athlete has made to progress.
- Improvements in performance throughout the year.
- Special circumstances/barriers that have been overcome by the athlete.
- Any other significant areas highlighted by the nomination are to be considered if they highlight a contribution to sport.
Changing Lives Award

This award will be presented to an organisation who has adopted a Changing Lives Through Sport approach and has intentionally used sport to change lives in the last year. This organisation will have shown they understand the needs of their community and responded appropriately by delivering activities and interventions to support the needs of individuals and make a positive impact on their lives.
- The nominee must be a Dundee based school/club/organisation.
- The nominee must demonstrate that it has adopted a Changing Lives Through Sport approach.
- Only commitment contributed between April 2024 and March 2025 will be taken into consideration.
- Nominations will be considered on the quality of the nominee not the quantity of nominations received.
- Nominations will be judged on entry form alone.
The nomination is to be considered on merit in relation to the following:
- Changing Lives Through Sport initiatives developed over the past 12 months e.g., initiatives which meet community need and tackle social outcomes through sport.
- Evidence value of the impact of initiatives on participants.
- Scale and difficulty of the issue being tackled.
- Longevity and sustainability of initiatives.
- Any other significant areas highlighted by the nomination are to be considered if they highlight a contribution to using sport to intentional tackle social issues.
