Steps to Health Community Programme

Steps to Health Community Programme

We host short health walks of up to one hour at various venues across the city. Led by qualified Walk Leaders from Paths for All, our walks take you to green spaces and local areas across Dundee.

Roseangle Cafe

11.30am

This walk meets inside Roseangle Kitchen Café and is suitable for all walkers. Walks are around the Riverside, Perth Road and University area returning to the cafe for a cuppa or lunch which the walkers buy themselves. This walk is usually a couple of miles at a relaxed pace. Family, friends and carers are also welcome

Tuesday

Charleston Community Centre

10.00am

This walk meets in reception and is a walk which is suitable for all walkers and wheelers. Walks are around the local area, usually a couple of miles including as much green space as possible and returning to the community café for a cup of tea/coffee/meal afterwards.

Maggie's Centre, Ninewells

11.00am

We meet at the Maggie's Centre, Ninewells Hospital from 10:30am on Tuesdays for a walk that starts at 11am. We walk in the surrounding greenspace at a pace and distance that suits the group returning for a vital cuppa and a chat in the Maggie's Centre. A friendly, welcoming group please come along and join us.

Tuesday
(for adults with an ASN/Disability)

Ranger Centre, Baxter Park

11.00am

Meet us at the Ranger Centre beside the playpark at 10:45am on a Tuesday. Our walk stays within the park allowing walkers to walk at their own pace, the more adventurous sometimes go up to Swanny Ponds. We return to the Rangers Centre for a cuppa and a chat. This walk is targeted at adults with an ASN/Disability but is open to all.

Wednesday

Olympia Leisure Centre

9.45am

This health walk lasts around an hour, meet in the foyer from 9.30am every Wednesday. Walks are around the City Quay area, exploring the waterfront and walkers can choose from either a slower, shorter walk or a longer, faster walk if they wish. Walkers return to Olympia for a free coffee/tea and more chat.

Wednesday

Douglas Sports Centre

1.00pm

A short health walk lasting around an hour, leaving from Douglas Sports Centre at 1pm (meet at 12.45pm in the car park). should say - A short health walk lasting up to an hour, your choice. Leaving from Douglas Sports Centre at 1:15pm, we meet from 1pm in reception.

Thursday

Community Garden, Dawson Park

10.00am

This walk meets at the Community Garden in Dawson Park a little before 10am, we than have a walk in the park. This can be a longer or shorter walk depending on the walkers that day. If the group splits to accommodate all walkers, we meet again in the Community Garden for a tea/coffee and a more chat.

Thursday
(for adults with an ASN/Disability)

St Mary's Place Entrance, Dudhope Park

1.00pm

This walk meets at the St Mary's Place entrance to Dudhope Park at 12:45pm. Walkers stay within the park allowing walkers to walk at their own pace/distance enjoying a chat and the marvellous views across the river. We return to the Dudhope Multicultural Centre, St Mary's Place for a tea/coffee, board games and a chat. This walk is targeted at adults with an ASN/Disability but is open to all.

Steps to Health Targeted Group Programme

Steps to Health Targeted Group Programme

Our Targeted Group Programme partners up with organisations to create and deliver health walks tailored for adults with long-term health conditions. Included is hands-on support for delivering walks and training for staff and volunteers to ensure everyone has a great experience. We offer Paths for All Walk Leader Training to anyone wishing to start a walk in Dundee please contact us for more details of local courses.

Plus, when the time is right, participants from target groups can join our Steps to Health Community Walk Programme!
