People across Dundee are invited to enjoy a relaxed walk, meet new people and discover local health walks at a free summer picnic in Dawson Park this month.

The Steps to Health Summer Picnic takes place on Thursday 23 July, 11am to 1pm, meeting at the Community Garden at Dawson Park.

Hosted by Active Dundee, the event brings together regular walkers and volunteers while welcoming anyone interested in trying a friendly, supported walk for the first time.

The morning will begin with a gentle group walk around the park, followed by a picnic. Attendees are invited to bring their own lunch, with tea and coffee provided.

The picnic also offers a chance to find out more about the Steps to Health programme, which provides free, weekly health walks across Dundee.

Designed to be welcoming and accessible, the walks help people stay active, meet others and build healthy routines, with each session ending in a cuppa and a chat.

Averil Anderson, Steps to Health Co-ordinator at Active Dundee, said:

“Our Steps to Health walks are all about making it easy and enjoyable for people to get moving and meet others. The Summer Picnic is a great way to bring our regular walkers together while giving new people a chance to come along, try a gentle walk and see what we’re about. You don’t need any experience, just come along, have a chat and take that first step.”

No booking is required and people can simply come along on the day.
